ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. The Bookstore is Now Selling the Newly Published “Orthodox Study Bible”
… including the New and Old Testaments, with the Septuagint! There is finally a Bible for Orthodox Christians translated into English. Get your copy today!
2. The Final Lenten Dialogue is this Wednesday, April 16th following the Presanctified Liturgy. Fr. Nicholas Speier from St. Athanasius will be the guest speaker.
3. Items are Still Needed for Special Services During Great Lent, Holy Week and Pascha. Items currently needed include (4) beeswax candles for the Solea, (13) beeswax candles for Holy Unction Service, Rose Petals, flowers for the Tomb of Christ, (12) Easter Lilies, and (5) Orchids for Easter.
4. Fr. Simon is Visiting Shut-ins During Great Lent. If someone in your family will be unable to participate in the Holy Week services due to illness, please call the Church Office.
Education & Spiritual Formation
5. The Saint Barbara Bible Study Meets Every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. We are beginning the Universal Epistle of Saint James. Please join us!
6. Pilgrimage to Mount Athos and Northern Greece for Men & Women, September 26 – October 10, 2008! Interest in a pilgrimage to Greece has been shown by several parishioners. The cost is $5,500/person, base on double occupancy, which includes air travel, land transportation, all rooms, several meals, and all service charges and taxes. For detailed itinerary, please contact Fr. Simon in the Church Office. Only if we have enough interest in this program will we go! Deadline for reservation is Tuesday, April 29, 2008.
Youth & Young Adults
7. The April Schedule for the Children’s Greek Classes: Level I, April 16th at 4 p.m.; April 30th at 5 p.m.; Level II, April 16th at 5 p.m.; April 30th at 6 p.m.; Level III, April 16th at 5:15 p.m.; April 30th at 6 p.m.
8. Saint Barbara Scholarship Program. Every Sunday through the end of April, Scholarship applications will be available for high school seniors who plan to continue their education at the postsecondary level, and for those already enrolled in an undergraduate program. For applications or questions, please see Theony Condos.
Parish Activities
9. The Parish Council Meeting for April has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 15th at 5:45 p.m. In order not to conflict with Great Compline, we have made this change.
10. Palm Sunday Luncheon will take place Sunday, April 20th in the Orthodox Center. Tickets will be sold at the door. Adults - $10; children & students – free.
11. The Resurrection Meal will Follow the Resurrection Service & Paschal Divine Liturgy on Saturday, April 26th at 11 pm. Join us to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ!
12. The Saint Barbara Annual Easter Agape Picnic is set for Sunday, April 27th at Manning Park, Picnic Area #9 at 12 noon. Adults $20, children 18 and under $10.
13. The Annual Bagels & Baklava Event Tuesday, May 13th at 6 p.m. We will begin with a discussion here at Saint Barbara’s and move to the Temple B’nai B’rith for a discussion, a Pot-Luck Dinner, dancing and fellowship. This year, the Armenian Apostolic Church community will be joining us! Please RSVP to the Church Office.

This week, we complete the fast for Great Lent with a fast from meat, dairy, fish, wine & oil Monday through Friday, with wine & oil permitted Saturday, and fish, wine & oil permitted Palm Sunday.
