Parish News ICON DEDICATION - Next Sunday, July 5, 2009, the new icon in front of the Altar Table of the Mystical Supper, Saint John the Baptist and the Virgin Mary will be dedicated and unveiled at the end of the Divine Liturgy. The icon was donated in memory of Father Constantine Monios.

The memorial service this morning is being chanted for Constantine G. Padussis who fell asleep in the Lord forty days ago. May his memory be eternal. The memorial service begins on page 164 of the Divine Liturgy book.

The basket of flowers gracing the icon of the Panaghia is offered to the glory of God and in honor of their granddaughter, Marianna Georgia, on the occasion of her baptism today, and is presented lovingly by Thomas and Maria Rafailides.

Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Foerster will present their second child, a son, for the traditional forty day blessing. We wish this family many years of health and happiness.

The Cathedral community is sponsoring the coffee hour today. Everyone is invited.

Immediately following the Divine Liturgy today, there will be a meeting of the Festival Committee in the Cathedral Board Room. This year’s annual festival will be held on November 6, 7 & 8. Nikki Anagnostou has graciously accepted to chair the festival again this year. This meeting is open to all.

This evening, Great Vespers will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church in Frederick, MD, 6:00 p.m. Metropolitan Evangelos will preside.

Our Sunday School and Greek School are looking for donations of used laptop computers. We are looking to use more Power Point, slides, and internet resources for helping to teach our students. Anyone who has an old laptop sitting in their closet or is ready to upgrade, please send it to the Cathedral. We will be working with our computer technology committee to clear the disk memory and get the units ready for use by the schools. Drop off the laptops at the church office or see Sophia Krome, Kelly Topaltzas, or Art Lisowsky.

GREEK SCHOOL NEWS—The Greek School has had another great year and the teachers and principal want to congratulate all students for a job well done. In the fall, a new class will start called Intro to Prep. This will be for students entering Kindergarten according to the public school age criteria. We are developing a new curriculum and more information is available by contacting Greek School Principal, Kelly Topaltzas, 443-535-8984, or kelly@metricowireless.com.

Next Sunday, following the Divine Liturgy, a festive Independence Day luncheon will be held in the Father Constantine Monios hall.


Parish News The Stewardship Committee reminds our faithful stewards that their monthly giving is extremely important in the summer months, too. Help keep our cash flow positive by offering your pledge each month. We ask that everyone do their part so that we do not have to borrow from our reserve funds to pay operating expenses. If you have not submitted your 2009 pledge card, please do so today. Cards are available from the Cathedral office or at the narthex of the Cathedral.

Little Angels will meet on Tuesday, July 7, from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Holy Wisdom. Bring your little ones (ages 2-5) for an afternoon of fun, crafts, snacks, and a lesson. Contact Dimitri Lee, 410-727-1831, or dlee@goannun.org, for more information.

Saturday, August 15, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., is the next Church Supper, where you can have a delicious Greek meal for only $10.00 for adults, $6.00 for children. Dinner will be held in the Father Constantine M. Monios Hall. Round up your family, neighbors and friends, and come enjoy the evening. Another outstanding menu will be featured. Beginning Tuesday, September 1, 2009, the Adult Greek language course, Levels I and IV, will be offered at the Cathedral. FOOD FOR BALTIMORE – The Cathedral has begun an outreach program for the city’s neediest families, many impacted by the economic crisis. Please respond by donating a non-perishable food item, such as pasta, peanut butter, cereal, or soup, to be dropped off into the containers just inside the front doors.

WOMEN’S GUILD WINE and DINE—Join us for a wonderful dinner and fine wine experience, Saturday, September 19, 2009, beginning at 6:00 p.m. with an aperitif wine at Linwood’s Restaurant in Owings Mills. As an added attraction, we will have a wine expert and awarding winning author James Gabler offer us his informative and entertaining insight of various wines.
