Apolytikion for Holy Myrrhbearers Sunday
When Thou didst descend unto death, O Life Immortal, then didst Thou slay Hades with the lightning of Thy Divinity. And when Thou didst also raise the dead out of the nethermost depths, all the powers in the Heavens cried out: O Life-giver, Christ our God, glory be to Thee.

The noble Joseph, taking Thine immaculate Body down from the Tree, and having wrapped It in pure linen and spices, laid It for burial in a new tomb. But on the third day Thou didst arise, O Lord, granting great mercy to the world.

Unto the myrrh-bearing women did the Angel cry out as he stood by the grave: Myrrh oils are meet for the dead, but Christ hath proved to be a stranger to corruption. But cry out: The Lord is risen, granting great mercy to the world. - Translation by Holy Transfiguration Monastery

Apolytikion of the Church
Troparion of our Church: Tone 7
Thou wast transfigured on the mountain, O Christ our God, showing to Thy disciples Thy glory as each one could endure. Shine forth Thou on us, who are sinners all, Thy light ever-unending, through the prayers of the Theotokos. Light-bestower, glory be to Thee.

Troparion of St. Herman: Tone 4
O Blessed Father Herman of Alaska, North Star of Christ's Holy Church, the light of your holy life and great deeds, guides those who follow the Orthodox way. Together we lift high the Holy Cross you planted firmly in America. Let all behold and glorify Jesus Christ, singing His Holy Resurrection.

Kontakion
Though You went down into the tomb, You destroyed Hades' power, and You rose the victor, Christ God, saying to the myrrh-bearing women, "Hail!" and granting peace to Your disciples, You who raise up the fallen. - Translation by Narthex Press

And these [the women] first see Jesus; and the sex that was most condemned, this first enjoys the sight of the  ...Read Full Text >

NEVER READ THE BIBLE AND FEEL INTIMIDATED?
One of the best ways to get a Bible overview without being overwhelmed in the process is to read a high quality children`s Bible story book. I peruse what`s out there every so often, having reviewed various copies in recent years. The one I think best reflects the Scriptures without watering them down ...Read Full Text >

Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen!

I want to share some very excellent news from Pat Krochina, our architect, just in. Greg copied me on a letter from Pat.

Everyone must know by now that HTGOC is making every effort to start building our new church this summer. This is all happening very fast and that’s Okay with me. We have asked Pat to expedite the finishing of our plans and pursue building permits so we can break ground as soon as possible. One issue that has been like a dark cloud on the horizon, has been the possibility that we may have to install a sprinkler system. That would be expensive (approx. $150,000 on the cheap side).

Pat met with the Fire Marshal today and found out that we will not have to have the sprinkler system. Greg’s response to Pat was along these lines:
“Excellent news! “
And Emmanuel weighed in with:
“That is actually very excellent and surprising news! This will save us thousands in re-design
