Petitions for our Church
+Fr. Leo, 6/21/09

For several weeks, I have been adding the following petition to the main litany in our prayer services and Liturgies:
That we may be found worthy to build a beautiful temple to the Glory of God, let us pray to the Lord.
We are very excited about the possibility of starting the first phase of our Building Project this fall. We have approx. $765,000 in the fund with more pledged.

It is our custom to pray the Paraklesis to the Mother of God, the Panagia, each Wednesday evening. From now on I want to make a special focus of the Paraklesis, that we be found worthy to survive this particularly difficult financial year when we rely on stewardship to fund our church’s ministries.

Church attendance is very low, with the result that we will probably finish the first half of the year with a well over $13,000 deficit.

Please let me encourage each one who is concerned about the well being of our community to attend the Wednesday evening Paraklesis and let us ask, together, the Theotokos to intercede for us, for the benefit of the Parish and that each one of us be closer to God daily, for our salvation and to His glory. Amen. Our prayers are stronger when we pray them together. Paraklesis starts at 6:30 PM, Wednesdays. We also have a Bible study that starts at 5:30 PM, Wednesdays.

Our Church should not be thought of as a luxury liner, but rather as a Greek Trireme, which is propelled principally by ores in time of battle. Let’s put our backs into it by God’s grace.

+The Blessing of the Lord be on you.
