GREEK LANDING DAY CELEBRATION AT ST. PHOTIOS
The Greek Landing Day Celebration is scheduled for June 25. 26 and 27 in historic St. Augustine, Florida. The historic occasion being commemorated is the landing of the first Greeks on American soil on the 26th day of June in the year 1768, 241 years ago. The events for the celebration will include Church Services at the magnificent St. Photios Chapel, and a glendi on Saturday the 27th from 10am to 3pm which will include the performances of traditional Greek dances from the youth of the surrounding communities. Diakonia Magazine- The new issue, Spring 2009, of the Diakonia Magazine of our Atlanta Metropolis is now available. It is full of interesting articles, many colorful photos and is only $3.00. See a preview on page 15 of our May/June Lamplighter. The Diakonia magazine is available after the Divine Liturgy in the Hellenic Cultural Center at the Philoptochos Tsourekia & More table. It can also be purchased at the Church Office on weekdays.
Clergy-Laity and Vacations- Our Secretary, Linda, will be on vacation from June 8th thru June 19th. Please contact a board member for assistance during this time. Fr. Andrew departs on June 10th for the Metropolis Clergy Laity and vacation. You may call Fr. Gregory Champion for pastoral needs during the week at 966-9325. Fr. Nicholas Nichols will celebrate the Divine Liturgy on June 14 and June 21. Fr. Gregory will be serving in Ft. Pierce on Sundays for 7 or 8 weeks until their new priest arrives.

Philoptochos Food Drive- Philoptochos is collecting non perishable items for the needy in our area. Please bring your donations and place in the appropriate box in the small hall. Thank you in advance for helping to feed those less fortunate.

Our Thursday Study Group, "Discussions on Orthodoxy," is reading the Bible “in one year”. We are "time shifting" the readings. The September readings are our June readings.
