SPIRITUAL BOOK CLUB Having completed our spiritual journey through Great Lent, Easter and now Pentecost, it is the perfect time to keep up our disciple and energy for our spiritual growth. Our next book is, “GIFTS OF THE DESERT, The Forgotten Path of Christian Spirituality”, by Kryiacos C. Markides. This is the same author of our previous book, “Mountain of Silence. We would like everyone to read this book at their leisure during the summer months and we will discuss in the early fall. Please see Tamara Costa in the GOYA Bookstore to purchase your book. “A fascinating narrative that is…dialogue and meditation, history and politics, theology and travelogue.” Los Angeles Times

GREEK FESTIVAL PREP CONTINUES We are taking this week off to recuperate from all the amazing work that has taken place so far for our Greek Festival. Our next items to make are Baklava, Nut Rolls & Kataife on Monday, June 15, 9AM – 1 PM and 5 – 8 PM; Tuesday, June 16, 9AM – 1 PM and 5 – 8 PM, Wednesday, June 17: 9 AM – 1 PM and Thursday, 9 AM – 1 PM (Please call to check on progress to see if we are still working). We will have a lot to do in the mornings and evenings. Please help when you are able. Everyone counts, the more people we have, the quicker it goes! So please, do not think someone else will do it.

ARCHANGEL MICHAEL HONORS Nominations are being accepted for the Archangel Michael Honors Award given to one Adult and one Youth from our parish. Honorees must be Parish members who exemplify the true Orthodox Christian Way of life by their deep faith, commitment, dedication, and service to the Church on their parish level. Forms are available on the Welcome Table. Complete entire form and place nominations in the box. Deadline, TODAY!

HELP FEED THE HUNGRY LENTEN FOOD COLLECTION Please continue to bring canned goods and non-perishable foods throughout the Summer. These foods will be distributed to the North Raleigh Ministries Food Bank.

GRILLING & CHILLING “Big Fat Grill Off” Today is our Grilling & Chilling Big Fat Grill Off! A great opportunity for fellowship and fun for our entire Parish Family. PLEASE NOTE, the starting time will be 5 PM. Please remember that everyone can join in today by bringing a side dish to share, lounge chairs, tents, beverages, etc. You can even grill something at home to share and not be entered in the contest. Come to enjoy the day.

PARISH COOKBOOK Have you submitted your favorite recipe(s) yet? Test out one you like the best and submit it. This will be an international cookbook, celebrating the diversity of our Parish. So, if you have recipes that are Greek, Russian, Lebanese, Serbian, Eritrean, American, et al., we really want to represent EVERYONE in our Parish family. So please, dig out some of your favorite family recipes and send them to Jill Stark (jill.stark@gmail.com).

SUNDAY SCHOOL COMMENCEMENT & GRADUATES Sunday, June 14 is Sunday School Commencement & Graduates’ Sunday, we would like to have each graduate to be in attendance. Six Scholarship Awards, totaling $7,000 will also be distributed on Graduate’s Sunday. Ice Cream Social follows for the children.
