STS. PETER & PAUL AND THE HOLY APOSTLES Come and celebrate the Feast of the Sts. Peter & Paul and the Holy Apostles on Monday, June 29, Orthros, 5 PM and Divine Liturgy, 6 PM. Evening Feast Day Liturgies are a great opportunity to enhance our spiritual lives. Celebrating the Liturgy more frequently and not just on Sundays is a great way to have an evening of prayer in order to receive peace and strength for the next day.

SPIRITUAL BOOK CLUB Having completed our spiritual journey through Great Lent, Easter and now Pentecost, it is the perfect time to keep up our disciple and energy for our spiritual growth. Our next book is, “GIFTS OF THE DESERT, The Forgotten Path of Christian Spirituality”, by Kryiacos C. Markides. This is the same author of our previous book, “Mountain of Silence. We would like everyone to read this book at their leisure during the summer months and we will discuss in the early fall. Please see Tamara Costa in the GOYA Bookstore to purchase your book. “A fascinating narrative that is…dialogue and meditation, history and politics, theology and travelogue.” Los Angeles Times.

GREEK FESTIVAL Special thanks to all those who have volunteered so far for all the preparation for this year’s Greek Festival. We have completed all the main dishes and some of the pastries. We will resume baking in August to complete the all the rest of the product we need.
We are pleased with seeing many new volunteers, but will still need many more helpers so be looking for Bulletin Announcements, emails and check our website for updates.

SHOES FOR ORPHAN SOULS Our Ladies Philoptochos Society is involved in a nationwide project collecting "NEW" shoes for orphans all over the world. This is an outstanding project for our youth groups and all the members of our parish to be involved in too! For GOYANS, what a great opportunity for everyone to go to the clearance section and purchase a "NEW" pair of shoes that would benefit an orphan your age! Please bring your new shoes to church with you and put them on the round table near the entrance to the hall. Let’s collect as many shoes as possible by the end of June. Thanks for your support.

HELP FEED THE HUNGRY FOOD COLLECTION Please continue to bring canned goods and non-perishable foods throughout the Summer. These foods will be distributed to the North Raleigh Ministries Food Bank.

CHOIR ORGANIST We are looking for potential organists that would like to volunteer to assist Elia and our choir periodically throughout the year, especially on Major Feast Days, Christmas, Easter, etc. Volunteers should be able to confidently read music and pass an audition. We have certainly witnessed some of the talent in this area through our Variety Shows. Please contact Elia Nicholas, Choir Director, to audition at ejnicholas@verizon.net or 812-6861

FATHER ANTHONY & PLANNING STUDY RESULTS Fr. Anthony is visiting our parish TODAY to present his findings from the surveys, focus groups and the person interviews. Everyone is invited to the Parish Hall after the Divine Liturgy to hear his report. We STRONGLY ENCOURAGE EVERYONE to stay.

PARISH COOKBOOK Have you submitted your favorite recipe(s) yet? Test out one you like the best and submit it. This will be an international cookbook, celebrating the diversity of our Parish. So, if you have recipes that are Greek, Russian, Lebanese, Serbian, Eritrean, American, et al., we really want to represent EVERYONE in our Parish family. So please, dig out some of your favorite family recipes and send them to Jill Stark (jill.stark@gmail.com).

ARCHANGEL MICHAEL HONORS Our Parish would like to congratulate 2009 Archangel Michael Honorees selected by the Parish Council: Toula Capetanos is our Adult Honoree and Conner Whitaker our Youth Honoree. As stated in the guidelines in selecting honorees prayerful reflection was based on several scripture references and Article V, section 6 of the Uniform Parish Regulations. One such scripture verse is: “Well done, good and faithful servant: You have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much; enter into the joy of your master.” (Matthew 25:21).
We also congratulate all of our nominees some of whom respectively declined their nomination.
