CHRISTOS ANESTI!
Orthodox Christians greet each other with this joyous greeting “Christ is Risen” and the response is “Truly He has Risen”. Also, for forty days, we do not kneel during our worship, as kneeling is a symbol of penitence, whereas, standing is the sign of Christ’s victory and joy in our midst.

Do you believe in miracles? Witness and be a part of your faith in action. Join the Wyckoff, NJ Mission trip to the Hogar Rafael Ayau Orphanage, Guatemala City, Guatemala in October 2009. “We tell missionaries who come to the Hogar to let the children love them. This creates a little opening in their hearts. Because the missionaries are Orthodox like they are, the children see them as safe. The children need to be loved”. Madre Ines, Abbess. Your mission is to spend time with them, listen and laugh with them, pray with them and feel the miracle of love. To join the missionary team, contact Georgia Lipane @ 201-906-4622 or glipane@speakeasy.net. More info will follow. Visit them at www.hogarrafaelayau.org

A PRAYER FOR MOTHERS:
PRIEST: Let us pray to the Lord.
PEOPLE: Lord have mercy.
PRIEST: On this Mother’s Day, O Heavenly Father, we thank You for sharing Your creative Power with mother and for loving each generation that receives life from You through our beloved mothers. Your divine wisdom has established the high calling of motherhood to give us life, to nurture us, to speak, to walk, to be grateful, to believe, to respect, and to be your earthly example of your love for us.
PEOPLE: Kyrie Eleison (3 times).
PRIEST: Truly Lord, You created all things in wisdom. May the mystery of motherhood draw us closer to Your Love, with thanksgiving we praise Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and forever and to the ages of ages.
PEOPLE: Amen.
