MISSION TRIP TO GUATEMALA – Do you believe in miracles? Witness and be a part of your faith in action. Mission trip to Guatemala City, Guatemala, Central America. Place: Hogar Rafael Ayau Orphanage. Dates: October 2 – October 9, 2008. Spiritual Leader Fr. Paul Pappas.
“We tell the missionaries who come to the Hogar, Home for Children, to let the children love them. This creates a little opening in their hearts. Because the missionaries are Orthodox like they are, the children see them as safe. The children need to be loved.” Madre Ines, Abbess
Your mission is to spend time with them, listen and laugh with them, pray with them, and feel the miracle of love. An Awareness Luncheon will take place on Sunday, September 14th immediately after Divine Liturgy in the Parish Center
For more information contact Georgia Lipane at 201-906-4622.
SUMMER HOURS – Our summer hours of worship are Orthros 8:45am, Divine Liturgy 9:30am. This schedule will be observed until the end of September.
VITAL STATISTICS
1. Avoid riding automobiles because they are responsible for 20% of all fatal accidents.
2. Do not stay home because 17% of all accidents occur in the home.
3. Avoid walking on streets or sidewalks because 14% of all accidents occur to pedestrians.
4. Avoid traveling by air, rail, or water because 16% of all accidents involve these forms of transportation.
5. Of the remaining 33%, 32% of all deaths occur in hospitals. Above all else, avoid hospitals.
You will be pleased to learn that only .001% of all deaths occur in worship services in church, and these are usually related to previous disorders. Therefore, logic tells us that the safest place for you to be at any given point in time is church!
Bible study is safe too. The percentage of deaths during Bible study is even less.
FOR SAFETY’S SAKE – Attend church and read your Bible…IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE!
A PRAYER TO GOD
LORD, we ask that you grant us
HEALTH enough to make work pleasure;
WEALTH enough to battle with difficulties & overcome them;
GRACE enough to confess our sins & forsake them;
PATIENCE enough to toil until some good is accomplished;
CHARITY enough to see good in our neighbor;
CHEERFULNESS that shall make others around us glad;
LOVE that shall move us to be useful;
FAITH that shall make the things of God real to us in our life and
HOPE that shall remove all anxious fears concerning the future.
PERSEVERE AS JESUS PERSEVERED
Lew Kraft used to drive his horse, Paddy, from store to store, selling cheese products. As he did, he talked to Paddy about his dreams.
But in spite of the long hours and hard work, Lew’s sales remained low and his debts high.
One day someone told him bluntly, “Lew, you’re either too stubborn to admit it, or too dumb to see it, but you’re licked.” But Lew refused to give up. He continued to visit stores and talk to Paddy about his dreams.Today, the multimillion-dollar Kraft Company stands as a monument to a man who persevered in a dream until it came true.
It was this same kind of perseverance that Christians need to have in their daily walk. It was this same kind of perseverance that Jesus himself had.
