Resurrectional Apolytikion Third Tone
Let all things above in heav'n rejoice, and let all things below on earth be glad. With all the might and strength of His arm an eternal deed the Lord did perform. Beneath His feet He has trampled down death by death, and first born of the dead has He become. From the womb of Hades has He delivered us, and to all the world has granted His great redeeming mercy.

Apolytikion for Beheading of the Venerable Head of the Glorious Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist John
The memory of the just is celebrated with hymns of praise, but the Lord's testimony is sufficient for thee, O Forerunner; for thou hast proved to be truly even more venerable than the Prophets, since thou was granted to baptize in the running waters Him Whom they proclaimed. Wherefore, having contested for the truth, thou didst rejoice to announce the good tidings even to those in Hades: that God hath appeared in the flesh, taking away the sin of the world and granting us great mercy.

Apolytikion of the Church
Blessed are You, O Christ our God. Who by sending down, the Holy Spirit upon them, made the fishermen wise and through them, illumined the world. And to You, the universe is ever drawn, glory to You O lover of mankind.

Kontakion
In your holy birth, Immaculate One, Joachim and Anna were rid of the shame of childlessness; Adam and Eve of the corruption of death. And so your people, free of the guilt of their sins, celebrate crying: "The barren one gives birth to the Theotokos, who nourishes our life."

GREEK HOLIDAY FESTIVAL

Our annual Greek Holiday festival is only one month away. Baking is going well, however we still need some help and chairpersons for some of the areas. We need all of your help. Please sign up on the workers schedule in the Learning Center.

GREEK HOLIDAY KITCHEN WORKERS

Much of our food for the festival will be delivered on Saturday, September 12th. Those working in the kitchen should be there in order to organize the products in storage in a way that will position them for easy usage during the festival cooking times.

BAKING

Cutting and cupping of baklava will be done on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. If we can get enough help, we might be able to finish and not have to work on Friday.

SUNDAY SCHOOL BEGIN DATE

Please mark your calendars that we have set Sunday, September 13th for the first day of Sunday School. We will begin our new school year with an "Agiasmos" (Holy Water) blessing during the time of the children's sermon at 10:00AM, so please have all the children there on time or they'll miss the blessing.
