O Merciful One, You came from on high, and condescended to Your three day burial to save us from suffering. You are our life and our Resurrection. Glory to You.

Apolytikion of the Church
Blessed are You, O Christ our God. Who by sending down the Holy Spirit upon them, made the fishermen wise and through them, illumined the world. And to You, the universe is ever drawn, glory to You lover of mankind.

Today, the Virgin bears Him who is transcendent, and the earth presents the cave to Him who is beyond reach. Angels, along with shepherds glorify Him. The Magi make their way to Him by a star. For a new child has been born for us, the God before all ages.
