THANK YOU FROM NELLY AND MICHAEL KOURTZIS
When we came to Miami seven months ago for Michael`s liver Transplant you welcomed us very warmly. We felt immediately among friends, willing to help. This is not to be forgotten.
Thanks to Dr. Andreas Tzakis and his team everything went quickly, smoothly and well. That was so much more than we expected. We were lucky to have such a doctor and a compassionate man.
John and Evan Scurtis with Fr. Mekras, as a rescue team rushed to the hospital from day one. Stacy Prevolis was of great help as a continuous backup.
All this happy story could never been real today if Basil Yanakakis was not assuming the role of strategic planner, even before our arrival. His continuous support, both moral and practical goes on up to today. We will always be grateful to him and to dear Nancy.
We are about to go back to Athens now, but maybe in a way we will still be in Miami. Our son Panos is coming eventually to study here, with the strong encouragement of who else, Basil Yanakakis.
For both of us it was a life experience and we even had a good time in the process. THANK YOU!

2 OF OUR MEMBERS OF SAINT SOPHIA PHILOPTOCHOS ELECTED TO THE METROPOLIS PHILOPTOCHOS BOARD
The Clergy-Laity met last weekend in Mobile Alabama. During this time the members of the Philoptochos held their elections for the Metropolis Board. Our own Evan Scurtis was re-elected to the Metropolis Board and we congratulate her as she serves another term. We also want to congratulate our Saint Sophia Cathedral`s new arrival to the Philoptochos Metropolis Board. Our very own Betty Lantz ran for the Philoptochos Board and she won the election after all the votes were cast. We are so proud of these two women who will be the Cathedral`s Miami representatives in Atlanta.

THE POTTER FAMILY HOSTED THE FIRST YOUTH COMMISSION DINNER MEETING AT THIER HOME WITH 100% ATTENDANCE
Father Stavroforos and the entire youth commission want to thank the Potters for hosting us at their home. The brainstorming meeting came out with some `postive 7 thrilling surprizes` in terms of what we are planning for the upcoming year. We want to be able to excite our youth and their families with what we plan to offer this Fall. All I can say is `that we are all finally thinking outside of the box`. Those in atttendance were Fr. Stavroforos - Spiritual Advisor, Perry Lantz - Parish Council Youth Liason, Jay and Jo Nell Potter - dinner meeting hosts, Deme Mekras - GOYA Coordinator & Direct Teen Advisor, Youth Adult Team Members: Sheila Callesis, Mina Savvides, Katerina & Maria Albanis, and Jeanine. The evening was full of enthusiasm for our youth and the 100% attendance shows that St. Sophia`s youth program will be outstanding. I want to once again thank everyone for their participation and their tremendous input, and most especially our most gracious hosts. With my paternal blessings for all our youth and to those that make an effort to show that they care by their efforts by investing their love, their time, and their efforts to show that we as a Community care for our youth. + Fr. Stavroforos
