Apolytikion (Second Tone)
When you descended to the realm of death You as life immortal rendered to Hades a mortal blow by Your all radiant dignity. And when You from infernal depths and the darkness below did raise the dead. All the hosts of heaven's powers did proclaim and cry out, O life giving Christ and our God we give glory. - Translation from Green Hymnal

Hymn of the Day-Commemoration of the Great Earthquake in Constantinople
O Thou Who lookest on the earth and makest it tremble, deliver us from the fearful menace of earthquake, O Christ our God, and by the intercessions of the Theotokos, send down upon us Thy mercies in abundance and save us. -Translation by Holy Transfiguration Monastery

Hymn of the Day- Demetrios the Myrrhbearer & Great Martyr of Thessaloniki
The world has found in you a great champion in time of peril, as you emerged the victor in routing the barbarians. For as you brought to naught the boasts of Lyaios, imparting courage to Nestor in the stadium, in like manner, holy one, great Martyr Demetrios, invoke Christ God for us, that He may grant us His great mercy. -Translation by Narthex Press

Hymn of the Church
Having seen the sign of the Cross in the sky and like Paul having received his calling from heaven, and not from men, Your apostle among Kings, Lord, placed his capitol in Your hand. Preserve our country in everlasting peace, through the intercessions of the Theotokos, for You alone are the Lover of mankind.

Kontakion
A protection of Christians unshameable,
Intercessor to our Holy Maker unwavering,
Reject not, the prayerful cries of those who are in sin,
Instead, come to us for you are good.
Your loving help bring unto us,
Who are crying in faith to you:
Hasten to intercede, and speed now to supplicate;
As a protection for all time,
Theotokos for those who honor you.

Faith…is the beginning of our union with God: the true believers are the stone of the church of God, prepared for  ...Read Full Text >
