Re. Fr. John E. Artemas, September 2009
Beloved Members of St. Nicholas Church, Sisters and Brothers in the Lord: May the Grace and Peace of God be with you.
1. I trust that you have all enjoyed a pleasant and restful summer. I was pleased that many of you continued to worship regularly throughout the summer months, and I look forward to seeing many of you whom I haven’t seen in a while. I pray that all is well with you and your families and that you continue to be “strong in the Lord” in your various circumstances.
2. With the month of September many of our church programs are resuming (Sunday School, Greek School, G.O.Y.A., and Philoptochos). We invite all of our parishioners – young and younger - to participate. I especially invite and expect all of our young people who love the Lord to participate in the Youth Music Conference of our Metropolis that will be hosted by our St. Nicholas Church on October 9, 10 and 11. All necessary information and registration forms will be available at the
church during the next several weeks.
3. Very soon work will begin to replace the roof of our beautiful church. There was no room for delay. The work had to begin NOW, before inclement weather sets in, to avoid potential damage on the inside. A complete update will be given at the Parish Assembly on Sunday, November 15, as well as on other major projects that need to be addressed. Mark the date on your calendar and plan to attend.
4. As your pastor, it is my duty to remind you: Please continue to worship in church regularly, support the church generously, and apply the Christian moral values and teachings in your everyday life as faithfully as you can. Don’t allow the pressures of a godless world to distract you. Remain committed to live by the commandments and moral values revealed to us by the Lord Jesus Christ, who is forever “The Way, the Truth and the Life”.
I keep all of you in my prayers and I look forward to seeing you in church.
Yours in the Service and Love of the Lord and His Holy Church,
+ Father John E. Artema
