Apolytikion of the Church
O Commanders of the Heavenly Host, we the unworthy beseech you, that through your entreaties you will fortify us, guarding us in the shelter of the wings of your ethereal glory, even as we fervently bow before you crying: "Deliver us from all danger, as Commanders of the Powers on high!

Kontakion
O Protection of Christians that cannot be put to shame, mediation unto the creator most constant: O despise not the voices of those who have sinned; but be quick, O good one, to come unto our aid, who in faith cry unto thee: Hasten to intercession and speed thou to make supplication, O thou who dost ever protect, O Theotokos, them that honor thee. - Translation by Holy Transfiguration Monastery

Apolytikion for Elias the Prophet
The incarnate Angel, the Cornerstone of the Prophets, the second Forerunner of the Coming of Christ, the glorious Elias (Elijah), who from above, sent down to Elisha the grace to dispel sickness and cleanse lepers, abounds therefore in healing for those who honor him. -Translation by Narthex Press

LEAVING CHURCH
Leaving Church before the dismissal- besides being rude deprives
us of a blessing. Worship has a beginning –“Blessed be the Kingdom…” and an end “Let us depart in peace…” To
leave immediately after communion is to treat the church like a fast food restaurant where we come and go as we please.

PYRRHIC VICTORIES AREN'T WORTH IT
In 280 B.C., Pyrrhus, king of Epirus, defeated the Roman armies, but at such cost to his own troops that he was unable to follow up and attack Rome
itself.
He remarked, "One more such victory and we are lost." His statement and situation are reflected in our modern day adjective ‘pyrrhic.’

THE WELL KEPT LIFE

One of the most satisfying feelings in my life is to pull into my driveway after a long day of work and see a perfectly manicured yard. The sight of beautiful plants and healthy grass gives me a feeling of serenity. The absence of weeds and the overall good order of the garden and the yard give me a sense of peace and security. In a world where so much is beyond our control, it is nice to have a private sanctuary to go to that can be as beautiful and as detailed and as orderly as I want it to be.

To maintain a garden or a yard requires time and effort on a consistent basis. Neglect the yard for a couple of weeks and you will have very tall grass. Neglect a garden for a few weeks and you’ll find a lot of weeds. Neglect the garden for six months and there will be no garden left. A week of no water and your plants will be thirsty and stressed. A month of no water and they will be dead. Sometimes we fall behind and have to invest
