Greek School Reunion Dance; Nov 24th Greek School Reunion Dance; Saturday Nite Nov 24th
Everyone will be coming home to celebrate Thanksgiving in November, and will be looking forward to getting together in fellowship to enjoy a nice evening of Greek music and dance at the Rev Andrew J Demotses Educational Center on Saturday evening November 24th at 8:00 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale soon for only $ 20.00.

The dance is for everyone at St Vasilios.

Also, anyone 90 years of age who graduated from Greek School and will attend that evening, will also receive a special gift.





Philoptochos News The members of the Philoptochos  are working very hard getting ready for this year`s Giant Attic and Antiques Sale on Saturday,
November 10th. A lot of volunteers are needed to set up and to work at the sale on Saturday. We will need about 20 volunteers for every one of the three shifts. Please come to help and bring your most delicious cake for the Bake Sale.
Schedule for Set Up:
Thursday November 8th 9 a.m.—1 p.m. & 1 p.m.—5 p.m.
Friday November 9th 9 a.m.—1 p.m. & 1 p.m.—5 p.m.
Schedule for Working at Sale:
Saturday Nov.10th 9 a.m.—1 p.m. & 1 p.m.—5 p.m. & 5 p.m.—7p.m.

On Thursday, November 1st, the Philoptochos celebrated the Divine liturgy in honor of their Patron Saints Cosmas and Damianos. Today, after the first Divine Liturgy, they will offer an Artoclasia for the health and well being of their members their families and the entire community. Immediately after the second Divine Liturgy there will be a Memorial Service for all the Philoptochos members who have fallen asleep in the Lord.

The entire Philoptochos family wish to extend their condolences to the Gass and Morfis families for the loss of their beloved Daniel Mathew (Danny) and our dearest friend. This community owes a lot to Danny and he will be missed by all.


St. Makrina Study Group The St. Makrina women’s study group will begin meeting on October 3rd from 9:30 to – 11:00 a.m. This group will learn about our faith by reading and discussing various Orthodox books. This women’s study group will meet for an eight week period. Anyone interested in joining or finding out more about it is urged to speak with Presvytera Claire after Church or call the church office 978-531-0777.


JUNIOR GOYA NEWS: "Jr. GOYA fund raiser just in time for the holidays - Cookie Dough! Each tub makes 96 cookies for $12 per tub. Taste samples during Coffee Hour on Sunday October 28th and November 4th. Cookie Dough will be pre-ordered and will arrive by Thanksgiving. Prizes awarded to top sellers! Please contact a Jr. GOYA advisor for more information."


PTA NEWS We would like to thank all who volunteered at the Festival this past weekend. We could not have done it with out all of you! We appreciate your time and energy you put into our Festival.
PTA Christmas party will be December 1st.  This will be great fun with  dancing, games, food and more!
We will be Christmas Caroling to the Vererans on December 15th.  Last year we had a wonderful time and enjoyed hot cocoa and cookies after singing.   Please join us.
Next PTO meeting is a ladies night out on November 15th at the Salem Country Club.  Contact Myrna for tickets 978-239-1412.

Agape Circle The Agape Circle (a new fellowship group) will begin on Monday November 5th at 7 p.m. and meet for 7 weeks.  The Agape Circle was designed by Dn. Markos Nicolas of Holy Cross and Boston University (doctoral candidate in pastoral counseling).  The group`s intention is to be a comfortable place for members to experience and grow in Christian fellowship and compassion.
The St. Vasilios group is one of 40 Agape Circles across the country
There is space for two or three more members.  For more info call Diane Haritos, at 781-639-9393 or e-mail dianehrts @yahoo.com. The group is open to individuals 21-65 yrs of age. Those interested in joining must sign up ahead of time. Please reply ASAP as the group is starting soon.

Inquirer’s Class Have you ever wished you could attend an introductory class on the Orthodox Faith? Would you like to learn more about your faith? Are you interested in perhaps becoming Orthodox? You can find answers to these questions and more by attending the Inquirer’s Class that will begin meeting on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8;00 beginning on September 11th. This group will meet for ten weeks. To reserve your spot in this informative discussion group please call the Church Office 978-531-0777.


Community Credit Union Donation Program From June 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007 the Credit Union will donate $100 to the St. Vasilios Building Fund for every member of St. Vasilios who will open a savings and a checking account at the Peabody branch (32 Central St.), up to a maximum of $5000. Please consider helping the church by opening an account, and don’t forget to mention that you are a St. Vasilios member!



NO PARKING DO NOT PARK WHERE IT IS LEGALLY MARKED: NO PARKING". You will receive a ticket from Peabody Police Dept. reserved spots for New England Market when you attend our services. Violators will be towed. They are great neighbors and we don't want to offend them!


JOY NEWS Our next meeting will be on November 18th at 3 p.m. A special project is planned with Father Panteli. Please save the date more details to follow.


St. Stephen`s Ministry to the shut-ins We would like to thank all volunteers who made great efforts to visit most of our parishioners that are confined at home or in nursing homes. We have received many more requests, and we will continue the visits. Fr. Chris has called a meeting for Tuesday, April 24th at 1pm in the parlor room. Mary Franggos will lead a discussion on visitations. We ask the volunteers to bring a list of people visited, including addresses and phone numbers. Anyone interested in joining the group of volunteers is welcome to attend.
