WORSHIP - FELLOWSHIP - SERVICE
Q. How long is Divine Liturgy at Saint George?
A. Approximately 70 minutes including the sermon.
Q. Is it ever longer than that?
A. Yes if there is a memorial or other special service.
Q. Why is the service so short? Do you leave anything out?
A. We don`t skip anything. In fact, many silent prayers are read aloud so that all may hear their beauty and meaning. The service can actually be completed in 60-70 minutes without skipping or rushing.
Q. Do you start on time?
A. Yes, we start promptly each Sunday at 10:30.
Q. How much English do you use in Liturgy?
A. We celebrate Divine Liturgy approximately 70% in English, though the music is entirely in Greek.
Q. Would I feel welcome at St George?
A. Most first time visitors comment on how welcome they feel at Saint George.
Q. Do you have to be Greek to be Greek Orthodox?
A. No! We are blessed to have many individuals and couples of various ethnic and religious backgrounds, many of whom have embraced Orthodox Christianity.
Q. How do I learn more about Orthodox Christianity?
A. Stop by our parish book table in the Church Hall following liturgy. If you need further information, please speak to Fr Jim or contact him by email at FrJimK@goarch.org.
Q. Does St George Church provide opportunities for community serivce?
A. We have a number of existing programs including ongoing food and clothing collections, collections for disaster relief and occasional fundraisers for worthy causes. This past spring we raised over $8,000 to benefit the homeless - visit www.PathwaystoHousing.org. We are always open to putting the talents of our parishioners to work in the mission of the Church, serving the community. If you would like to help organize a ministry at St George Church, please speak to Fr Jim or send an email to FrJimK@goarch.org.
