St. Demetrios sashes will be distributed before boarding the buses. Light snacks and a parade photo will be taken outside the church before departing. If you are marching, but not taking the bus, please make sure you arrive on Boylston Street by noon. All children of St. Demetrios are encouraged to march in this celebration!

Easter Lilies
As is our tradition, our church will be decorated with beautiful lily plants on the eve of the Resurrection. Starting today, you may sign up to donate to our church at $20.00 each, a plant for the health of a loved one, in memory of a departed relative or friend, or for a reason close to you. There will be a drawing of three fresh, whole spring lambs on Palm Sunday, April 16, 2006. Please take this opportunity to help our worthy causes, which include: the Orthodox Christian Mission Center, Church Women United, Hellenic Cardiac Fund, National Philoptochos Cancer Drive, St. Basil’s Academy, Hellenic College/Holy Cross, International Orthodox Christian Charities, Salvation Army Miracle Kitchen, Monastery of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem, Philoxenia House, St. Methodios Faith and Heritage Center, as well as other philanthropies. Raffle tickets are available for $2.00 each or 6 tickets for $10.00, with checks payable to St. Demetrios Philoptochos. Tickets will be mailed to parishioners and also sold during the coffee hour. J.O.Y. and G.O.Y.A. Great and Holy Friday Retreat
On April 21st, our St. Demetrios parish will have our annual Great and Holy Friday Retreat. Please have your children sign up for this wonderful retreat. The retreat will start at 10:30 A.M. and will conclude with the Apokathelosis (Un-nailing) service at 3 P.M. This is a day for all Orthodox Christians to remember and reflect how our Lord suffered for us. We Hope to see you there.

From time to time I would like to share with you some of the items, efforts and goals that need our support and help. Here at St. Demetrios people often ask if they can contribute in some concrete way. As you can imagine, there are always needs, some very practical and necessary, others personal and intangible, that constantly come to our attention. Here are some for your prayers and support:
Practical and Tangible-A new Carillon (Bell) System.-Furnish and Update the Vestry/Altar Boy Rooms.-New Entry Doors to our building. -Altar Processional Candles.
Philanthropy/Spreading Orthodoxy-Assist three seminarian families.-Support/Sponsor a Mission Priest.-Support a mission team member.-Help establish a radio hour for spreading Orthodoxy in our area.
Spiritual and Fellowship Development-Come to the Liturgy on time. -Get involved in one of the many groups/organizations.-Participate in the life of the Church and support its efforts.-Attend at least two “faith deepening” events/retreats, Orthodox Life Series workshops.

CHILDREN’S BOOK DRIVE
Thank you for your donations of books to distribute to children in schools. Your donations are bringing excitement, joy and the love of not only reading, but also the ownership of books into the lives of many children. PRAYER SHAWL KNITTING MINISTRY
On the first and third Tuesday of each month at 1pm we meet to knit Prayer Shawls. Please join us and learn more about the Prayer Shawl Knitting Ministry. We have the yarn, needles and even the teachers...you can also knit at home if you can`t make it on Tuesdays; and many of our 36 knitters do knit from home. Also, please let us know who in our Parish may need our extra prayers by receiving a Prayer Shawl. Little Angels
Our little Angels continue to meet in the St. Demetrios nursery room on the first Thursday of every month at 9:30a.m. We’ll be meeting on Thursday February 2nd, and again on Thursday March 2nd, so join us for music, dance and play! Moms have their time to talk and share ideas about parenting and kids always enjoy the company of the other children, so join us! Second Annual Flower Sale
The Philoptochos will hold their second annual flower sale on Sunday, May 21st in the social hall after Liturgy. There will be flats of beautiful annuals available for purchase at reasonable prices. Beautify your garden and walkways while helping to support our charities.
