Easter Lilies As is our tradition, our church will be decorated with beautiful lily plants on the eve of the Resurrection. You may sign up today to donate to our church, at $20.00 each, a plant for the health of a loved one, in memory of a departed relative or friend, or for a reason close to you. YOUR PRIEST’S WISH LIST From time to time I would like to share with you some of the items, efforts and goals that need our support and help. Here at St. Demetrios people often ask if they can contribute in some concrete way. As you can imagine, there are always needs, some very practical and necessary, others personal and intangible, that constantly come to our attention. Here are some for your prayers and support:
Practical and Tangible-A new Carillon (Bell) System.-Furnish and Update the Vestry/Altar Boy Rooms.-New Entry Doors to our building. -Altar Processional Candles.
Philanthropy/Spreading Orthodoxy-Assist three seminarian families.-Support/Sponsor a Mission Priest.-Support a mission team member.-Help establish a radio hour for spreading Orthodoxy in our area.
Spiritual and Fellowship Development-Come to the Liturgy on time. -Get involved in one of the many groups/organizations.-Participate in the life of the Church and support its efforts.-Attend at least two “faith deepening” events/retreats, Orthodox Life Series workshops.

St. Demetrios Church 2006 Parish Directory All directory correction sheets must be returned to the church as soon as possible. Again, we ask that you please consider supporting our youth and our church by placing a greeting, memorial remembrance or business ad in our new and expanded Church Directory. Business advertising participants who reserve a full page, will receive additional coverage in our coupon section, without charge. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have orstop by our table during Coffee Hour in the Church Hall, following Sunday services.

Holy Communion for Shut ins If you know of any sick or elderly people who are unable to attend services and would like to receive Holy Communion, and would appreciate a visit, please call the Church Office at 781-237-5561. We would be happy to visit with them. Thank you.

CHILDREN’S BOOK DRIVE Thank you for your donations of books to distribute to children in schools. Your donations are bringing excitement, joy and the love of not only reading, but also the ownership of books into the lives of many children. This is an on-going program; if you have gently used books to share, kindly drop them in the basket in the lobby. Many thanks.

PRAYER SHAWL KNITTING MINISTRY On the first and third Tuesday of each month at 1pm we meet to knit Prayer Shawls. Please join us and learn more about the Prayer Shawl Knitting Ministry. We have the yarn, needles and even the teachers...you can also knit at home if you can`t make it on Tuesdays; and many of our 36 knitters do knit from home. Also, please let us know who in our Parish may need our extra prayers by receiving a Prayer Shawl. Little Angels Our little Angels continue to meet in the St. Demetrios nursery room on the first Thursday of every month at 9:30a.m. We’ll be meeting on Thursday February 2nd, and again on Thursday March 2nd, so join us for music, dance and play! Moms have their time to talk and share ideas about parenting and kids always enjoy the company of the other children, so join us! Please call the church ahead of time (781-237-5561) to ensure that there have been no changes in the schedule. If you have any questions call Renee Vekiarides at 508-545-1664.

A DAY OFF FROM COOKING! FAMILY DAY AT ST. DEMETRIOS May 6th, 8:30 A.M.-7 PM. Fun and fellowship is planned for this day!
8:30A.M.-1P.M. Monster Yard Sale, Raffle, Lunch of Souvlakia, Gyros, and Hot Dogs.
4 P.M.-7 P.M. Informal, come as you are, Mini-Taverna with professional DJ, wine-tasting booth, bake sale, raffle, ice cream Sunday bar, and loukamathes. Dinner choices will include pastitsio,(prepared by our very own church ladies), moussaka, baked chicken, locanico, salad, and much more!
Plan on bringing your whole family, friends and neighbors to enjoy wonderful Greek cuisine in an informal setting as part of your early evening activities.
Volunteers needed for St. Demetrios Family Day and Yard Sale. We need help for sorting, tagging, food prep, cashiers, security, set up and clean up. Please call Georgia at 781 431-7479 if you can assist either the week before or the day of the event.


Second Annual Flower Sale The Philoptochos will hold their second annual flower sale on Sunday, May 21st in the social hall after Liturgy. There will be flats of beautiful annuals available for purchase at reasonable prices. Beautify your garden and walkways while helping to support our charities.

THE FIFTYSOMETHING CLUB ANNOUNCES: A SPRING EXCURSION ON LAKE WINNPESAUKEE, NH All parishioners are invited to take a Buffet Luncheon/ Cruise on the M/S Mount Washington with a scheduled stop at KELLERHAUS for ice cream before returning home on Wednesday, May 24th, 2006. Departure 9:30 A.M. by motor coach, return at 6:30/7:30 P.M. Please note: space is available on a first come-first served basis. To register please contact Andy Rempis at 781-237-3283. Full payment of $65 per person is due upon reservation.
