KATHARA THEFTERA - CLEAN MONDAY
REV. PROTOPRESBYTER JON MAGOULIAS, March 10, 2008
“The Lord has given us many counsels and commandments
to help us toward salvation. He has given us a pattern of prayer, instructing us on how we are to pray. He has given us life, and with His accustomed generosity, He has also taught us how to pray. He has made it easy for us to be heard, as we pray to the Father in words taught us by the Son…Let us pray as God our Master has taught us. To ask the Father in words His Son has given us, to let Him hear the words of Christ ringing in our ears, is to make our prayer one of friendship, a family prayer.”
(St. Cyprian, martyred Bishop of Carthage +258)
Dearly beloved in the Lord:
We begin our pilgrimage into Great Lent on March 10th. Your willingness to participate in this holy season is an expression of your faith and desire to live in harmony with our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ.
Each week of Great Lent brings a new message to strengthen and transform us in our journey. By actively participating in this expression of our Faith you will be guided by the directions offered during the various Lenten services. Faithfully adhering to these directions will enable you to experience the Resurrection of our Lord in a more meaningful manner.
I encourage you to remain steadfast in your commitment to live our precious Christian Orthodox Faith so that your life may be spiritually enriched and renewed. Praying that the Lord strengthen and keep you in His Grace, I remain,
Faithfully yours,
