PANAGIA'S LENT BEGINS THIS WEEK AS WE PREPARE FOR THE FAST OF THE THEOTOKOS which begins on Thursday, August 1, let us remember that there is much we can learn of the life of our Theotokos, the Mother of God. Out of extreme humility, she commended herself to God, and did not trust in her own deeds. So much less should we trust in our deeds, and even more we should commend ourselves into the hands of God, crying out for His mercy. In honor of this fasting period, the liturgical calendar advises (ACCORDING TO OUR ABILITY) abstaining from meat products, fish, dairy, olive oil, and wine. It is our duty to fast during the Lenten seasons, as the Holy Spirit illumined the Holy Fathers of the Church to decree, in order to mortify the passions and humble the body. Saint Kosmas Aitolos relates that if we limit the food we eat, life becomes easier for all.

PARACLESIS SERVICES HELD EACH WEEKDAY AUGUST 1-14 WEEKDAY SERVICES during the first two weeks of August have been scheduled for our spiritual edification and growth as we remember the FALLING ASLEEP OF THE MOST THEOTOKOS. Let us take note of the schedule of services (listed in the “services” section) that will be held at both churches and avail ourselves of these spiritual opportunities! COMMEMORATION FORMS (for the LIVING only) can be found in the narthex at each church. The names will be read at each Paraclesis Service for the healing of soul and body. **Please note that the HOLY TRINITY and PROPHET ELIAS church OFFICES will be CLOSED on Thursday, August 15 in observance of the Feastday of the Falling Asleep of the Theotokos.**

He worked hard for his future and for his family. How did he survive? What did he do for fun? Join the HELLENIC CULTURAL ASSOCIATION as it spearheads a unique community-wide event on Sunday, September 22 which will provide you and your entire family an opportunity to walk in those “olden days”.
