Think on These Things: A grudge is a heavy thing to carry.

Practical Stuff for Lent
Fasting- do not eat meat, dairy or fish; reduce intake; skip a meal or two per day; Fast from sinful words & actions.
Prayer- pray each day; use prayer book; say Jesus Prayer throughout day using prayer rope; Lenten Prayer of St. Ephraim each day; attend Lenten worship services each week: Sat. Sun.-Vespers, Mon.-Compline, Wed.-Liturgy, Fri.-Akathist; seek opportunities to serve & participate more in worship.
Almsgiving- take time & money you would spend on yourself and give it away to serve the poor & needy.
Quiet Time- turn off TV, radio; sit down meals with family; do not participate in entertaining/celebratory activity.
Reading- read one chapter per day from Scripture (start w/ gospels); follow Lenten lectionary of Church (Genesis, Proverbs, Isaiah); read lives & teachings of Saints & Church Fathers; attend bible study.
Repentance- participate in Sacrament of Confession; forgive others; apologize & ask for forgiveness.

Social Hall Remodel Approved! — At our February General Assembly, the Parish approved and passed the remodeling of the Social Hall. This project includes improved lighting & acoustics, fresh paint, new banquet style chairs & tables, and updated window coverings. Work will begin in June. A special Social Hall Update and Decorating Fund Drive has been initiated and donations are greatly appreciated. See the design plan and fund drive display boards in the Social Hall.

Choir Practices —Junior Choir practices are the first and third Sundays of each month. Adult choir practice is with the Junior Choir on the third Sunday. Choir is open to everyone. Choir members – plan ahead to practice together.

Church Fathers Speak: – When we return home, let us prepare two tables, one for bodily food, the other for that spiritual food which is the Holy Scripture. Let the husband repeat what has been said in the holy assembly; let the wife learn it and the children listen to it. Let each of you make your home a church. Are you not responsible for the salvation of your children? Are you not likely to have to give an account of their upbringing? Just as we, the shepherds of the flock, will give an account of what we have done for your souls, so fathers of families will have to answer before God for all the people in their home. St John Chrysostom

Stewardship Update — As of March 13, 104 parishioners have submitted a pledge card and 56% of our stewardship budget is pledged. We have already exceeded last year’s total pledge amount. If you have not already, please make your commitment of time, talents and treasures to God in our parish of St George. We are encouraging everyone to tithe (give 10% of gross income) by increasing their giving from the previous year. Reflection: There are two kinds of gratitude – the kind we feel for what we receive and the larger kind we feel for what we give.
