Chewing Gum? — During our recent cleaning, scores of pieces of gum were found stuck under the seats of the pews. We remind everyone that chewing gum, drinking beverages and eating food are inappropriate while in the nave of the church. Please dispose of these in the trashcans before entering for worship. Thank You!

And what do the hymns of the Orthodox Church tell us about this topic? Tune in to this week’s episode for an engaging discussion on how these questions inform our understanding of ourselves and our current relationship with God. Listen Saturdays, KKMS 980AM, at 5PM, or anytime at www.receive.org
Joanna Needs Our Help!
Joanna Bilionis, a parishioner from St Andrew Greek Orthodox Church in South Bend, IN, has been battling cancer for the past two years, and is in need of peripheral blood cells from a matching donor for a second chance at life. We invite all healthy 18-60 year olds to be tested at St George GOC next Sunday, May 18, 2008, immediately following Divine Liturgy from 11:30AM-1:30PM. The test involves taking a simple swab from one’s mouth and is painless, free of charge to you, and for the best cause. With your help, a matching donor can be found and provide a cure for Joanna. Please make it a point to attend church on May 18, and keep Joanna and her family in your daily prayers. To make a monetary donation, write a check to St Andrew GOC, with memo “For Joanna Bilionis”. Mail to St Andrew GOC, 52455 Ironwood Road N, South Bend, IN 46635. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Anastasia Bilionis at 269.208.5959 or abilionis@gmail.com.
Church Fathers Speak: – The demons are accustomed to pretending to withdraw for a time, so that a man will take courage, thinking the demons have lost interest, and leave himself without attention. And then suddenly they jump upon his wretched soul and seize it like a sparrow. And if they defeat it, they throw it mercilessly into all kinds of sin, worse than the one for which he had previously asked forgiveness. Let us stand then with fear of God, and let us keep guard over our heart, carrying out our exercises in virtue, and let us keep our virtues, which constitute obstacles before the wickedness of the demonic enemies. St Isaiah the Anchorite
