Think on These Things: To be an American is to move on, as if we could outrun change. To attach oneself to a place is to surrender to it, and suffer with it. Kathleen Norris from “The Cloister Walk”

Archdiocese Oratorical Festival: Please send sponsor donations to help co-host this event on June 12-13-14. We also have opportunities for Goya youth and adults to help welcome and serve our guests, especially for the Saturday breakfast and lunch her at St. George.

Historic Visit of Archbishop Demetrios: The Oratorical Festival weekend will be the first pastoral visit of Archbishop Demetrios to the Greek Orthodox community of the Twin Cities. It is the first visit of an Archbishop since Spyridon in 1997 for the YAL Conference. It is the first visit of an Archbishop to either parish since Archbishop Iakovos consecrated our church in 1975. Divine Liturgy on Sunday June 14th will be St. Mary Greek Orthodox Church and we are encouraging parishioners of St. George to attend liturgy there. In addition, a luncheon with Archbishop Demetrios will be served. Adults are $15 and kids under 12 are $7. Tickets are available after liturgy on Sunday May 31st and June 7th and during the week in our church office. Please join us in welcoming Archbishop Demetrios that Sunday!

Wisdom from the Fathers: My child, fight the good fight of eternal life. Make a good beginning to obtain an excellent end. Keep your nous entirely engrossed in the recollection of Jesus, and He will become everything for you—joy, peace, mourning, and a multitude of life-flowing tears, which will make your soul whiter than snow and lighter than a cloud. Elder Ephraim of Mt. Athos

Church Fathers Speak: Take heed often to come together to give thanks to God and show forth His praise. For when you assemble frequently in the same place, the powers of Satan are destroyed, and the destruction at which he aims is prevented by the unity of your faith. Nothing is more precious than peace, by which all war, in heaven and earth, is brought to an end. St. Ignatius of Antioch

Sunday School Volunteers
We are recruiting volunteers for the Sunday School 2009-2010 year. Please see or email Andrea Faches (afaches@msn.com) to offer your services. Activities we need assistance with include: general planning, teaching & classroom support, Fall Kick Off, Christmas Program, Oratorical Festival, Saturday of Lazarus Youth Retreat and Graduation Sunday. Thanks to all the volunteers who`ve made 2008-2009 such a productive and meaningful year for all.

Sanctuary Renovation- thank you to everyone who helped with this project. Our sanctuary is beautiful and that helps reflect the beauty of God and His creation. Let us glorify Him with a generous donation to help complete this project. We have about $20,000 remaining to raise in order to pay for this project in full to avoid taking any loan. Doxa to Theo!

Vacation Church School- is August 3-7th ; Registration forms are available in the church office. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend and/or volunteer to help.
