Resurrectional Apolytikion
Let the heavens rejoice and the earth be glad, for the Lord by His Might, has created a Dominion. He has conquered death by death, and become the first-born of the dead. He has delivered us from the depths of Hades, and has granted the world great mercy. -Translation by Narthex Press

Apolytikion for The Conception by St. Anna of the Most Holy Theotokos
Against all hope, the bonds of barrenness are loosed today. For, God has hearkened unto Joachim and Anna clearly promising that they would bear a godly maiden. He who commanded the angel to cry out to her, "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you," will be born of her, the infinite One Himself, becoming man. -Translation by Narthex Press

Apolytikion of the Church
As the deliverer of captives,
and the protector of the poor;
A physician of the sick,
the defender of kings;
O Great Martyr Saint George Victorious,
intercede to Christ our God,
to save our souls.

December 4, 2007
In a gala celebration of the American Sephardi Federation and the American Friends of the Jewish Museum of Greece on December 3, 2007, Archbishop Demetrios of America was awarded the inaugural “Damaskinos Award” for “his important work in constructive interfaith endeavors.” The Damaskinos Award” was named for the ever-memorable Archbishop Damaskinos of Athens (1891 – 1949), who risked life and liberty to rescue Greek Jews from certain death at the hands of the Nazi occupation. The award carries the very image of Archbishop Damaskinos, as it was recorded on the cover of the October 1, 1945 Time Magazine, with the subtitle “His country is a battleground of titanic forces.”  ...Read Full Text >
