Special Services during August 2008
Prayer Services August 1-14th:

On August 1st we begin a 14 Day Fast Period in preparation for the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos. As we celebrate this special lenten period we invite the parish family to join us in special prayer services that will be held on August 1st, 4th, 8th, and 11th at 7:30 pm for the Paraklesis Service to the Virgin Mary.

On Wednesday August 6th we will gather for Liturgy to celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord and Savior at 7 pm.

On Thursday August 14th at 7 pm we will gather to celebrate Orthros and the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos.

Please make note of these services and join us.



40 Day Memorial Service - Nicholas Pantazis The forty day memorial service for Nick Pantazis will be celebrated on Sunday August 10th here at Saint Barbara. Please mark your calendar and plan on attending.



Philoptochos Fellowship:
The ladies will meet on Monday August 4th @ 10 sm at Paneras Bread at Patterson Place for their first of two monthly morning fellowships.


Durham Bulls Game Join the St. Barbara’s Youth Ministry in a night of fellowship and some good ol’ Durham Bull’s baseball (there will be fireworks too)!!!

When: Friday, August 29th at 7:05 pm

Where: Durham Bulls Baseball Park

Who: The St. Barbara’s Youth and their families

Price: Group ticket prices will range from $6-$9/person DEADLINE FOR RESERVATIONS IS AUGUST 14th.

We are currently in the process of getting a head count so please contact either Cleo Pantermakis or Cathy Mariakakis with the number of youth and adults from your family that will be joining us!

Your Youth Ministry are really looking forward to the upcoming 2008-2009 school year and have lots of exciting ideas for upcoming events! We hope to see all of the Youth of Saint Barbara’s Orthodox Church at the game!

Anastasia is registered at Babies "R" Us and Pottery Barn for Kids, both stores located at Southpoint shopping center.
