Resurrectional Apolytikion Grave Tone
O Lord by Your sacred Cross You abolished death, and granted unto the thief blessed paradise. The Myrrh-bearers ceased lamenting and turned to joy. The apostles did preach the Good News at Your command, that You had risen from the dead O Christ Our God, bestowing Your mercy upon the world ever more. - Translation from Green Hymnal

Apolytikion of the Church
Let us honor Saint Barbara, for she hath broken the snares of the enemy; and like a sparrow, she, the all-modest maiden, was delivered out of them by the help and weapon of the Cross. - Translation by Holy Transfiguration Monastery

Kontakion
O Protection of Christians that cannot be put to shame, mediation unto the creator most constant: O despise not the voices of those who have sinned; but be quick, O good one, to come unto our aid, who in faith cry unto thee: Hasten to intercession and speed thou to make supplication, O thou who dost ever protect, O Theotokos, them that honor thee. - Translation by Holy Transfiguration Monastery

Fishers of Men
In this Gospel passage we find ourselves transported by Saint Luke to the lakeside town of Genesarret. In our mind`s eye we can picture two fishermen returning from their work with empty nets. As usual there are many people gathered at the lake. The fishermen would usually sell their catch, and with the money they earned they would buy food for their families. But today these two fishermen were in great despair cause ...Read Full Text >

THE GREEK FATHERS ON STEWARDSHIP

The Greek Fathers pointed to the fact that in the Greek language money and all earthly possessions are called "chremata," which means "things to be used." In accordance with Christ`s teaching they condemned therefore the anxiety about money. Man must not be mastered by it, but master it himself. He must feel completely independent of it and always be prepared to give it up whenever this is needed. The Greek Fathers spoke therefore about Stewardship of money especially in relation to the social problems of their time. For them, the mutual aid between the members of the body belonged to the doctrine of the communion of saints. Such aid implies that wealth belongs to all. Monopoly or exclusive ownership was therefore fully condemned in the patristic thought. In referring to
