Resurrectional Apolytikion
When the angelic powers appeared at Your tomb and those who guarded You became as though dead; and standing by Your sepulcher was Mary seeking Your pure and sacred body. For You did vanquish Hades and uncorrupted by its touch, You came unto the virgin woman bestowing the gift of life. O You who rose from the dead, Lord we give glory to You.

Apolytikion for Lazarus the Wonderworker
As you vigilantly prayed you drenched your pillar with rivers of your tears; and with your sighs from deep within, painstaking labors produced their fruits a hundredfold; and you became a pastor, giving forgiveness to all those who came to you, our devout Father Lazarus. Intercede with Christ our God, entreating that our souls be saved.

Apolytikion of the Church
Facing danger at sea and fearful persecution, you became a chosen vessel of the Savior. With your sermons you enlightened the nations, and to the Athenians you revealed the unknown God. Teacher of the nations, St. Paul the Apostle, protector of us all: keep us who honor you safe from every trial and danger.

Kontakion
O protection of Christians unshamable, mediation before the Creator unchanging. O reject not the prayerful cries of sinners. Instead come to us for you are good. Your loving help bring unto us who are crying in faith to you. Quicken to intercession and hasten to supplication, you who protect for ever, Theotokos, those who honor you.

Apolytikion for Synaxis of the Archangel Michael & the other Bodiless Powers: Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Salaphiel, Jegudiel, & Barachiel
O Commanders of the Heavenly Host, we the unworthy beseech you, that through your entreaties you will fortify us, guarding us in the shelter of the wings of your ethereal glory, even as we fervently bow before you crying: "Deliver us from all danger, as Commanders of the Powers on high! " -Translation by Narthex Press

Apolytikion for Nektarios the Wonderworker, Bishop of Pentapolis
O faithful, let us honor Nectarios, divine servant of Christ, offspring of Silivria and guardian of Aegina, who in these latter years was manifested as the true friend of virtue. All manner of healing wells forth for those who in piety cry out, "Glory to Christ who glorified you; glory to Him who, through you, wrought wonders; glory to Him who, through you, works healing for all." -Translation by Narthex Press

Apolytikion for Theodore the Studite
You are a guide of Orthodoxy, a teacher of piety and modesty, a luminary of the world, the God inspired pride of monastics. O wise Theodore, you have enlightened everyone by your teachings. You are the harp of the Spirit. Intercede to Christ our God for the salvation of our souls. -Translation by Narthex Press

Apolytikion for John the Merciful, Patriarch of Alexandria
In patiently enduring, you obtained your reward, O venerable father. You persevered in your prayers without ceasing; and you loved the impoverished and you satisfied them. We entreat you, intercede with Christ God, O blessed John the Merciful, for the salvation of our souls. -Translation by Fr. Seraphim Dedes

Apolytikion for John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople
The grace of your words illuminated the universe like a shining beacon. It amassed treasures of munificence in the world. It demonstrated the greatness of humility, teaching us by your own words; therefore, O Father John Chrysostom, intercede to Christ the Logos for the salvation of our souls. -Translation by Narthex Press

A. 4. St. Justinian...On building Haghia Sophia

Haghia Sophia or the Church of Divine Wisdom is a masterpiece of grandeur and proportions, coveted by the Islamic East and the Christian West, and one of the most important attestations of humanity - surely the only one that for 1400 years has served God and Allah, the Christian world and Islam. The first church was built between 325 and 360 under Constans II, even though his father Constantine may have had the foundations laid. Ravaged by fire in 404, it was restored and reconsecrated by Theodosius II only to be completely burnt down during the Nika riots in January 532. Justinian had only recently risen to
