Resurrectional Apolytikion
When You descended to the realm of death. You as life immortal rendered to Hades a mortal blow by Your all-radiant divinity. And when You, from infernal depths and the darkness below, did raise the dead, all the hosts of heavens powers did proclaim & cry out: O Life-giving Christ & our God, we give glory.
Apolytikion for Savas the Sanctified
With the rivers of your tears, you made the barren desert bloom; and with your sighs from deep within, you made your labors bear their fruits a hundredfold; and you became a star, illuminating the world by your miracles; O Savas, our devout Father. Intercede with Christ our God, for the salvation of our souls.
Apolytikion of the Church
Facing danger at sea and fearful persecution, you became a chosen vessel of the Savior. With your sermons you enlightened the nations, and to the Athenians you revealed the unknown God. Teacher of the nations, St. Paul the Apostle, protector of us all: keep us who honor you safe from every trial and danger.
Kontakion
Today the Virgin goes forth, making her way to a cave where from her, ineffably, God the eternal Word will be born. Let the world be filled with joy, hearing these tidings. Joining the angels and shepherds let us give glory to Him who is God from all ages, yet wills to be seen as a little child.
Apolytikion for Nicholas the Wonderworker, Archbishop of Myra
A model of faith and the image of gentleness, the example of your life has shown you forth to your sheep-fold to be a master of temperance. You obtained thus through being lowly, gifts from on high, and riches through poverty. Nicholas, our father and priest of priests, intercede with Christ our God that He may save our souls. -Translation by Narthex Press
Apolytikion for The Conception by St. Anna of the Most Holy Theotokos
Against all hope, the bonds of barrenness are loosed today. For, God has hearkened unto Joachim and Anna clearly promising that they would bear a godly maiden. He who commanded the angel to cry out to her, "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you," will be born of her, the infinite One Himself, becoming man. -Translation by Narthex Press

Fr. Simon Thomas, Friday, December 3, 2004
