* Parish Council Visitations Are Continuing! The Parish Council Members are making visitations in teams of two. In order to facilitate the discussion, we ask you to consider your answer to these three questions: 1. What are your expectations of the Parish? 2. What do you see as your role in the Parish? 3. What are the three top priorities of the Parish?
Religious Education
* The next Orthodox Christianity 101 will be on Wednesday, November 11th at 6:30 pm at the Santa Barbara Public Library. This will be a monthly class on Orthodoxy taught by Fr. Simon. The topic of this class will be the Seven Ecumenical Councils. Please mark your calendars.
* Mission Trip to Tanzania, January 17-31, 2010! Fr. Simon and Alex Haimanis will be part of a Medical & Teaching Mission. The cost is more than $3,000 to each of them. If you would like to help off-set these costs, please contact Fr. Simon.
Parish Activities
* Greek School classes (all levels) meet on Wednesdays at 6 p.m., in the Redding Center. Instructors are Georgia Gastouniotis (ginagaston@cox.net), Panos Mitroulias (p_mitroulias@yahoo.gr), and Mariella Stockmal (stockmalm@gmail.com). The class on Greek Roots in English meets on Thursdays at 5 p.m. in the Redding Center. The class is open to all and requires no previous knowledge of Greek. Instructor: Voula Aldrich.
* Don’t forget Bagel, Baklava & Bourma is October 29th! Please call Terry Keramaris at 682-1592 to let her know what dish you will bring.
* The AHEPA Glendi will be Saturday, November 14th, at 6:00 pm.
* The Young and the Restless will be having a Thanksgiving candle light dinner on November 19th at 5:30. Please contact Bill Pertsulakes.
* SAVE THE DATE! Friday, December 4, 2009. In honor of our patron saint, Saint Barbara, a Crab Feast with a Greek-Cajun flair will be held. Come enjoy great food, a silent aution and music by the J.T. & The Zydeco Zippers. This is a family event sponsored by the parish council.
Outside Parish Activities
* The October Gathering of the Friends of Saint Barbara Monastery meets today, October 25th. The topic is “Holistic Orthodoxy is Alive and Well in Zimbabwe” beginning at 4:00 with guest speaker, Wendy Bodnar, member of OCMC Mission Team to Zimbabwe, followed by vespers at 5:00 and a potluck dinner at 6:00.
* Celebrate the Feast of Saint Demetrios with the parish at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox church in Camarillo. Great Vespers are on Sunday, October 25th at 7:00 pm and Orthros at 9:00 am and Divine Liturgy at
9:30 am on Monday, October 26th.
