Sunday of the Myrrh Bearing Women
Father Andrew Maginas, May 16, 2013
Christos Anesti! Christ is Risen!
This Sunday is the third Sunday of Pascha. We remember the faithfulness of the Myrrh-bearing women. They did not lose faith in Jesus after His crucifixion, nor did they fear the wrath of the Jewish rulers. They boldly came to the sepulchre to anoint Him.
We can worship in freely at this time unlike the Myrrh-bearing women and the early Christian community. We must ask ourselves, are we today as dedicated to our Lord Jesus Christ as the Myrrh-bearing women?
Challenge yourself to match their dedication to our Lord. Let us be as faithful and fearless as the Myrrh-bearing women we honor.
I invite you to pray with our church family this Sunday as we glorify and praise Jesus Christ, our risen Savior, in the Divine Liturgy. We begin at 10:00 a.m. We invite you to remain for a special luncheon and loukoumades after the Liturgy. I look forward to seeing you then.
Alithos Anesti! Truly He is Risen!
