Trisagion Service:
Lou Constantinou asks that we please join her on Sunday November 22nd, when Trisagion Prayers will be offered for the repose of John Constaniou, her father, who fell asleep in the Lord on November 25th in 1945. We will also remember her mother Hariklia, and her siblilings Christallo, and Timothy Zervos, and Michael.
Hope, Joy, and GOYA News:
A Hope, Joy, and GOYA gathering is planned for Saturday December 5th, 4-6:30PM at the church. Hope and Joy are the youth groups for elementary age children up through 8th grade. GOYA is the youth group for the high school ages. The youth will gather to make ornaments to decorate the tree at church followed by a pizza dinner. Feast of Saint Catherine the Great Martyr:
Our sister parish, Saint Katherine in Burlington, North Caroline invites to celebrate the feast day of their Patron Saint. Great Vespers will be celbrated on Tuesday, November24th at 7 pm followed by coffee and refreshments in the Church Hall. The Church is located at 2150 West Front St. Burlington.
Sunday School News:
Sunday School
All children ages 3 years through high school are invited to join our Sunday School program. Registration forms can be found in the hall. Sunday School classes meet immediately following communion. Children should exit quietly out the back right side of the sanctuary and proceed to their classroom. Parents of children in the preschool class (ages 3-5) are asked to pick up their children from the classroom at approximately 12:00pm or after services have completed, whichever is later. There will be no classes November 29 (Thanksgiving weekend), December 20 and 27. Classes will resume January 3, 2010.
Christmas Pageant
This year`s Christmas Pageant will be Sunday, December 13th immediately following the liturgy. Sunday School classes on November 22nd, December 6th and 13th will be used to prepare for the pageant (there are no classes on November 29, Thanksgiving weekend). Any child wishing to participate in the pageant needs to be in attendance all three rehearsals. If your child must miss a rehearsal, please let Christi Kleoudis know as soon as possible (christi.s.kleoudis@gsk.com, 319-3299).
Parish Assembly:
The fall Parish Assembly will be convened today after we`ve had a chance to have some coffee. The meeting will take place in the Church proper where plenty of chairs are already set up. Plesae join us one of the main agenda items will be nominations for the Parish Council elections which will be held on Sunday,December 13th. A list of eligible stewards will be found in this Sunday`s Bulletin.
Parish Council Seminar:
All candidates who are running for a seat on the 2010-2011 Parish Council must attand a Parish Council Seminar. This Seminar is taking place here at Saint Barbara Church on Monday Evening at 7 pm. This session is for our Parish and for Holy Trinity in Raleigh.
Christmas Caroling:
Evelyn Zehia is trying to get a "choir of carolers" to sing Christmas Carols at several area Nursing Homes. This event will take place on December 20th. If you are interested in joining this group or want more information please contact Evelyn Zehia ZEHIAE@Nationwidecom
Greek Dance Practices:
Come join the St Barbara Greek Dance Group! Practices start November 8th and are at the new St Barbara Church every Sunday 2-3:30PM. The group is open to anyone kindergarten age and older. No previous Greek dance experience necessary. Dance nstructors are Chrys Kondilis-Mangum, Cleo Pantermakis, and Sandy Henriquez. Contact Father Andrew for more information.
